The young lady that helped me on 9/29 @ 1230pm was phenomenal. She helped me get a truck even after I was late for my scheduled pick up. She saw that I had called and national call center hadn't changed my pick up time. I will use them for all my moving needs.
First of all, we rent every week. I can give you the most accurate review based on experience with Penske. I would give zero stars had it been an option. This place is terrible. DO NOT RELY on them. If they say they'll have a truck for you I'm guessing you'll have a 50/50 shot at one being there as scheduled. You'll probably get one the day you scheduled just not the time you requested, so keep that in mind. It wreaks havoc on a detail oriented schedule(r). You know what they are great at......excuses. There is always a lame reason why they don't fill the reservation as scheduled. I understand it's a business and they want as much inventory rented as possible, but they lack inventory control. I can't believe this but I would recommend Budget before this place. If there is a positive in all of this it's their trucks. They are obviously maintained well and are reliable (should you get one!). Even with higher mileage. If you could only figure out the customer support side, Penske is far too expensive to be giving their customers this kind of grief. Time to call Budget again or maybe start truck shopping.
"Watch your wallet" at this Penske Truck Rental in South Holland, Illinois. They will do a bate and switch on your credit card. It's happened more than twice. And, as I was in the waiting room someone was on the phone complaining of the same bate and switch on their credit card. They always claim that "oh it was just a mistake, it will be refunded". The sad part about it is we agreed on a price prior to me coming in to pick up the truck. What you need to watch for is if they are taking a longer than usual time typing on the computer after taking your credit card they are checking your balance. I looked at my bank statement and yes I was double charged. Penske should watch out for a potential class action and criminal charge of credit card fraud.
Friendly, professional service. My husband and I have used this location twice now because they are so helpful and pleasant. We made our reservation way too late the first time, but they still managed to find us a truck (make sure to reserve early though). Returns are super easy with the overnight key dropbox.
